What I Drank Last Night: Over the mid-Atlantic on a flight back to NY from Christmas in the UK, G.H.Martel Brut Prestige Champagne. What a discovery, and what a delight, nutty, rich and yeasty. Certainly an unlooked for surprise from American Airlines, though I was luxuriating in First Class thanks to an upgrade. Bonus points to American, thank you!
Will wonders never cease. Actually it was years ago on a transatlantic PamAm (remember them?) flight that I first tasted Charbaut, a very dependable French champagne that I have continued to seek out ever since. They make a lovely rose champagne as well. Hmmm. I would like a glass right now. Start the new year early, n’est-ce-pas?
