Just in time for the holidays artisanal Scotch whisky blender John Glaser has released a stunning limited edition vatted malt to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his tiny company.
Obsessed with quality, and the cost be dammed, Glasser carries his philosophy to a whole new level with this magnificent dram – it’s an intensely concentrated, subtly yet deeply complex whisky. And a totally unique one too. Combining the smokiness of Islay and the islands (Talisker from Skye?) with the dried fruit spiciness of unidentified Highland malts, it beguiles and intrigues. Yet identifying the components, while a fun parlor game, becomes irrelevant once one encounters the impossibly long, flavor-packed finish infused with the essence of raisins, dates, candied orange and black peppery heather.
