What I Drank Last Night: Federweisser, a partly fermented…

…slightly sparkling, very young wine from the current harvest. On a recent trip to Germany for a story on riesling, I discovered, and liked it, at a traditional inn in the Rheingeau, the Hochheim Hof in the town of the same name. Low in alcohol, it’s a sort of grape lemonade. Great as an aperitif, it’s best drunk alongside Zwiebelkuchen, a rustic onion tart – together they make a perfect autumnal pairing.
