Rocca delle Macie 2007, Reserva Chianti Classico – A Great Wine Drunk Far Too Young.

Oh, why did I open this wine? A moment of impatient madness, looking for something super to drink last night. What a waste!

A good wine? Yes, more than that, a potentially great wine. But ready to drink? No, even after 9 years it was still 5 to 10 away from its full glory. And just $26 upon release.

I decanted it for an hour, and that rendered it sort of approachable with a seared steak, but I just knew how much earthy, Tuscan, complexity it would deliver if only I’d had a little more patience.
